Scanner Photography (or scanography)
Old uses for new technology

These images are created utilizing a three-pass flatbed scanner as a camera. The scanner is placed on its side within constructed sets which are lit with various types of, incandescent, halogen, and florescent lights. Each type of light will cast it's own spectrum of color on the set.

Since the light sensitive eye of the scanner is calibrated for full spectrum light, changing the light source between each pass will alter the intensity of the colors perceived by the scanner eye.

Very little, if any, additional computer enhancement has been performed to alter the images beyond what is captured by the scanner.

Displayed here are the results of early scanner photography experiments. Further experiments include fitting corrective lenses to the scanner eye, as well as producing 3D images by using century-old, stereo photography techniques.

All images are are reproduced using archival injet media.
